Standard Market is a unique, chef-driven specialty food market and restaurant concept in the western suburbs, and our operation will soon expand to include a full-service coffee bar.
Full- and Part-Time Barista positions are available for individuals who have extensive retail/full-service coffee experience, a passion for all things food and drink, and the desire and entrepreneurial spirit to grow with a startup company. We seek those who appreciate the fine art that goes into pouring an exceptional cup of coffee or pulling the ultimate shot, welcoming each important element that makes a coffee drink truly great.
You:
- Have a background in coffee bartending and/or specialty retail
- Can discuss coffee knowledgably and respectfully with both enthusiasts and total novices
- Are intimately familiar with the roasters Standard Market carries (currently: Intelligentsia, Metropolis, Stumptown, Counter Culture, MadCap, Ipsento, Dark Matter, Passion House, Alterra)
- Are able to fill drink orders efficiently and consistently every time
- Can pull a perfect shot of espresso using a semi-automatic machine (we will feature a La Marzocco GB/5)
- Love to delight customers with your latte art skills
- Enjoy experimenting with a variety of brewing techniques, including a variety of pourover devices (e.g., Chemex, Hario V60, etc.)
- Are passionate about delivering perfect customer service experiences
- Are obsessed with cleanliness and organization
The ideal candidate is looking to fine-tune his/her skills at a true culinary art form, while being outgoing, customer-oriented, and having a strong work ethic and professional, positive attitude.
