Ford and NPR are teaming up to bring a customized NPR experience into Ford SYNC AppLink-enabled cars, the two companies announced Monday evening.
NPR fans will now be able to use the latest version of NPR's smartphone application to listen to their favorite programs from their Ford SYNC AppLink-enabled car. You'll be able to control NPR using the Ford SYNC interface, which means you can choose to listen to news, specific NPR programs (such as CarTalk!), and stories that line up under specific topics using voice control. For example, if you want to listen to NPR stories about sports, all you have to do is say "Topics," and then "Sports."
Other cool features of the NPR/Ford app: you can now program your car's radio preset buttons with NPR stations, create playlists of different programs, and get helpful tips from former NPR newscaster, and judge of Wait, Wait?Don't Tell Me!, Carl Kasell.
Ford SYNC AppLink is currently available on 10 Ford models, including the Ford Fiesta, Mustang, Fusion, and F150. The latest NPR smartphone app is available in the Android Market and the Apple App Store.
